You may want to perform a reset of your Pixelmator Pro preferences in cases where you're experiencing certain issues such as freezes, hangs, or other unusual behavior within Pixelmator Pro. You may also want to send your Pixelmator Pro preference files to us for troubleshooting purposes.

Note: if you’d like to perform a full reset of Pixelmator Pro, make sure to also reset your Pixelmator Pro preset data and related preferences.

Automatically reset Pixelmator Pro tool settings, cache, and document data.

You can perform the reset automatically by running this command flag in Terminal:


rm -rf ~/Library/Containers/com.pixelmatorteam.pixelmator.x*


Note: make sure you quit Pixelmator Pro before running the Terminal flag for the changes to take effect.

Manually reset Pixelmator Pro tool settings, cache, and document data.

If you'd instead like to perform the reset manually, follow the steps below:

  1. Quit Pixelmator Pro (Pixelmator > Quit Pixelmator Pro).
  2. Open the Finder and choose Go > Go to Folder. Paste the following path: ~/Library/Containers
  3. Locate all folders named 'Pixelmator Pro'.
  4. Delete them.
